Jan Garbarek discovered jazz

Jan Garbarek, a Norwegian musician, started playing the saxophone as an autodidact at the age of 14. This decision followed his radio listening to the track Countdown, taken from the album Giant Steps by John Coltrane. Subsequently, he won the Norwegian amateur jazz contest in 1962 alongside his own quartet.
