The Danube flows partly into the Rhine

A section of the Danube dries up regularly near Immendingen because of the infiltration of its waters into porous limestone soil. This underground network carries the liquid towards the Aachtopf, which indirectly feeds the Rhine. This capture phenomenon could one day make the upper course of the Danube disappear completely for the benefit of its neighbor.
