Women danced naked during the Floralia in ancient Rome

The Ludi florales were five-day joyful festivals established in Rome to celebrate the seasonal renewal. During these celebrations dedicated to the goddess Flora, women danced naked and prostitutes performed public stripteases. The historian Valerius Maximus even recounts that Cato the Younger was asked to leave the theater so that the audience could enjoy these shows without embarrassment.
