The first software patent application was filed in 1965

Applied Data Research filed the first patent application for software in April 1965 to protect Autoflow against the giant IBM. This software allowed for the design of a flowchart for other computer programs in order to measure their degree of priority. The value of the ADR stock was multiplied by five over the following three years thanks to the revenue generated by this tool.
