An expedition to the Tambora volcano in 1847

Heinrich Zollinger is a Swiss botanist who arrives on the island of Sumbawa in 1847. With his team, he is the first to venture into the caldera of the Tambora volcano since its terrible eruption occurred 32 years earlier. During his ascent, he observes that the landscape remains devastated and that smoke continues to escape from the summit.
