The Radhanites sold castrated slaves

The Radhanites were Jewish merchants of the early Middle Ages who dominated trade between the Christian world and the Muslim world. Among their luxury goods were many Slavic slaves captured by the Khazars. These prisoners were frequently castrated by the merchants themselves before being sold as far as Baghdad and the Maghreb.
