A major Argentine football club takes its name from a Parisian club

Racing Club de Avellaneda is a football club founded in 1903 by students from Buenos Aires. The name of this Argentine institution comes from Racing, runner-up in France in 1902, discovered in a magazine by the founder Germán Vidaillac. The team subsequently won numerous titles, including the Intercontinental Cup in 1967.
