The surface gravity of a black hole is the same everywhere

The surface gravity of a black hole is a strictly constant quantity over its entire surface. This result applies to spherical black holes but remains valid for rotating bodies such as the Kerr black hole. This regularity, demonstrated in 1973 by Brandon Carter, Stephen Hawking and James Bardeen, allowed for the establishment of a deep analogy with thermodynamics.
