The Sun has become 40 percent brighter

The Sun is a G2V spectral type star approximately 4.6 billion years old. Its luminosity has steadily increased over the course of its existence to reach this level. Today, it exceeds by 40 percent the brightness it possessed when it entered the main sequence.
