The secret nuclear rocket engine project

NERVA is a nuclear thermal propulsion program intended for space exploration, officially launched in 1961 by the United States. It aimed to design a reliable and reusable technology demonstrator to propel rockets such as the final stage of the Saturn rocket. Despite successful ground tests, the project was definitively stopped in 1972 due to drastic budget restrictions.
