A referendum approved by more than 99.8 percent in Egypt

Gamal Abdel Nasser was acclaimed during a referendum organized on June 23, 1956. This vote approved both his nomination to the presidency and the establishment of a new constitution. More than 99.8 percent of voters validated these choices, while a national assembly of 350 members was established the following year.
