A historical accusation of adultery based on a painting

In 1995, Carmen Ortega Ricaurte sparked a national controversy regarding Magdalena Ortega de Nariño. The director of the 20th of July Museum based her accusation of adultery on a portrait of Magdalena holding a child and wearing a medallion featuring the image of Jorge Tadeo Lozano. This hypothesis was quickly refuted in the press by several columnists and history enthusiasts.
