Five French cities received the Liberation Cross

Nantes is one of the five French municipalities honored with the Liberation Cross. This distinction was awarded from London by Charles de Gaulle upon the announcement of the action led against Feldkommandant Karl Hotz in 1941. It recognizes the major role played by the city of Nantes in the Resistance during the conflict.
