The creation of Rancid saved its founder's life

The band Rancid was born in 1991 to save Tim Armstrong from his serious addiction problems. His childhood friend Matt Freeman had this idea to keep him busy after two stays in rehabilitation. This initiative allowed the musician to get sober for the long term, as he has not consumed any substances for four years after this period.
