American television funded most of the Vancouver Games

The American channel NBC paid 820 million Canadian dollars to obtain the exclusive broadcasting rights for the Vancouver Games in the United States. This amount represents nearly 73% of the total broadcasting rights for the event, which reached 1.128 billion Canadian dollars. In total, the event was broadcast by 235 channels in 220 countries and followed by 3.5 billion viewers.
