The first human Olympic mascots
Håkon and Kristin are the first Olympic mascots to embody human beings. Dressed as young children in medieval clothing, they bear names inspired by 13th-century historical figures linked to Norway. To bring them to life, eight pairs of children were selected from 10,000 candidates aged 10 to 11 to play their roles during the events.
