The first Ilyushin Il-62 flew with military jet engines

The Ilyushin Il-62 prototype flew for the first time on January 3, 1963, with temporary propulsion. As its initial engines were not ready, the manufacturer had to install Lyulka AL-7 jet engines with a unit thrust of 77.53 kN. This military equipment already powered the Sukhoi Su-7 fighter before the aircraft received its Kuznetsov NK-8-4s.
