The word hypertext existed before computing

Hypertext is a literary concept created by Gérard Genette before being popularized by computing. It designates in literary theory a text derived from another prior text named hypotext. This notion thus allows for rewriting phenomena such as pastiche or parody according to the Dictionnaire Flammarion de la Langue Française of 1998.
