Most health applications lack cybersecurity

Software as a medical device refers to health applications regulated by bodies like the Food and Drug Administration to ensure their safety. Despite these requirements, in 2019, out of 4,936 such applications in the United States, only 105 devices included a specific summary regarding their cybersecurity. This lack of detail, reported in 2023 by van Kessel and his colleagues, still constitutes a major obstacle for patients and caregivers.
