De re militari inspired Leonardo da Vinci

The military treatise De re militari by Roberto Valturio, published in 1472, inspired Leonardo da Vinci for his drawings dedicated to weaponry. Leonardo da Vinci consulted the Italian edition of this work completed in 1455. The book enjoyed considerable success and was notably offered by Sigismondo Malatesta to figures such as Matthias Corvinus, Francesco Sforza, and Mehmed II.
