The inhabitants of the Island of Alliances have clover-shaped noses

The Island of Alliances is a territory in the Fourth Book populated by inhabitants with clover-shaped noses. The islanders refer to each other by whimsical kinship ties, such as a woman calling her husband my porpoise and a lout addressing his ally as my mattress. This satire targets alliance marriages as well as the monastic obsession with inventing a fictitious parenthood.
