Fecal transplants cure peanut allergies

Fecal bacteriotherapy is a treatment that consists of ingesting capsules of intestinal bacteria from healthy donors. A clinical trial published in 2026 allowed six patients highly allergic to peanuts to tolerate the ingestion of peanut proteins after only four months. This treatment induced an increase in regulatory T cells and could potentially be applied to other food allergies such as egg allergy.
