Eating radioactive food when elderly

In 1960, Herman Kahn published On Thermonuclear War, a pioneering work on nuclear famine and food supply. He suggested that elderly people could consume food contaminated by nuclear fallout without great danger to their health. This proposal was based on the fact that cancer has a latency period of at least five years, thus allowing healthy food to be reserved for younger generations.
