Your building can be registered as a historical monument without your consent

An order for registration as a historical monument can be issued for a building despite the refusal of its owner. This measure differs from classification, which requires the owner's agreement or, failing that, a decree from the Conseil d'État. The protection becomes effective upon the signing of the order, even if its official publication occurs the following year in the Journal officiel de la République française.
