The recycled engravings of Het Gulden Cabinet

Het Gulden Cabinet is a collection of artist biographies published in the 17th century by Cornelis de Bie. The idea for the work and most of the portraits come from an earlier book from 1649 titled Image de divers hommes. This previous collection had been edited by the Antwerp painter Joannes Meyssens, and only a minority of the engravings in Het Gulden Cabinet are original.
