Yahoo experienced the largest data breach in the world

Yahoo suffered a massive hack in 2013 which led to the compromise of billions of accounts around the world. The company had initially noted the theft of 500 million usernames and passwords. This total was revised significantly upwards following a statement published by Verizon, finally reaching 3 billion accounts and thus constituting the largest data breach in the world.
