The Deipnosophists once consisted of thirty books

The Deipnosophists have reached our era in a state truncated by half compared to the initial project. The manuscript kept at the Saint-Marc library in Venice indeed contains marginal notes mentioning thirty books instead of the current fifteen. This original division is furthermore confirmed by copies of the Lexicon of Hesychius.
