Girls perform better in computer science but lack confidence
The ICILS 2013 study revealed that in the 8th grade, girls outperformed boys in computer and information literacy. This advantage resulted in an average gap of 18 points across all participating countries. Nevertheless, their perceived self-efficacy in this field remained lower than that of boys. In the Republic of Korea, a peak of 38 points of difference in favor of girls thus coincided with a self-esteem 3 points lower than their male classmates.
