Mechatronics is a discipline combining mechanics, electronics, control engineering, and real-time computing. The term was invented in 1969 by an engineer from the Japanese company Yaskawa Electric Corporation. It took until the year 2005 for this word to officially appear in France in the Larousse dictionary.
