Cetaceans and hippopotamuses are related

Cetaceans are an infraorder of aquatic mammals whose group is the sister taxon of hippopotamuses. In 2023, this group counts 89 listed species in total, but only five still existing species are freshwater. This taxon nevertheless gathers the largest animals that have ever existed on Earth, including the fourteen species of whales.
