The two founding texts of Taoism were not always linked

The Zhuangzi is a founding work of philosophical Taoism along with the Dao de jing. No historical evidence proves that these two writings initially belonged to the same intellectual movement. They were only grouped under the banner of a Dao school towards the end of the 2nd century BC during the Western Han period.
