The test flight of the Zero fighter revealed its weaknesses

The Akutan Zero is a captured Japanese fighter plane whose analysis allowed for the discovery of technical weaknesses. Test pilots noted that the ailerons became stiff beyond 200 knots and that the carburetor cut the engine in the event of negative acceleration. This discovery allowed American forces to escape its pursuits by performing vertical dives or sharp right turns.
