Lesbian manga readers are the majority

Yuri Shimai is the first magazine to have conducted a demographic study of its readers, estimating the proportion of women at approximately 70%. This study, carried out between 2003 and 2004, showed that this audience was mainly composed of teenagers and women in their thirties passionate about the shōjo and yaoi genres. In 2008, another publisher, Ichijinsha, confirmed this trend with its magazine Comic Yuri Hime by reaching 73% of female readership.
