A cryptographic challenge solved 15 years early
The LCS35 challenge is a calculation launched in 1999 by computer scientist Ronald Rivest to design a system of undecipherable messages before a set date. The acceleration of computing speed had nevertheless been anticipated, but the design of specialized chips disrupted the forecasts. The test thus ended 15 years earlier than expected.
