Photostat flaws gave birth to Xerox

The Photostat is an old process for reproducing documents by direct photography on sensitive paper. A heavy camera equipped with a prism exposed the paper for 10 seconds before fixing it and drying it with hot air. By studying the disadvantages of this technique, Chester Carlson developed electrophotography which gave birth to the Xerox company in 1948.
