Cockatoos plan the use of multiple tools

Some cockatoos use a short, pointed stick to pierce a membrane, then a flexible straw to access a seed. They carry these two objects together in order to perform a planned sequence of operations. Each bird applies this method autonomously, without any help or mimicry.
