French keyboards omit accented capital letters

The French AZERTY keyboard was standardized by omitting accented capital letters and the œ ligature. This absence was explained by the technical limitations of printers sold at that time, which did not possess these characters. Nowadays, software or alternative layouts like bépo allow for bypassing this problem.
