The origin of the order of courses in restaurants

Ziryab is an arbiter of elegance from Baghdad who lived in Cordoba between 789 and 857. He was the first to establish the order of meals by separating appetizers, main courses, and desserts. He also replaced precious goblets with stemmed glasses and restored the tradition of the banquet.
