A 15th-century engineering book is partially written in secret code

The Bellicorum instrumentorum liber is a 15th-century engineering manuscript written by Giovanni Fontana. The work contains 70 illustrated pages of which the majority of explanatory notes use cryptographic writing. This encryption system probably served to protect the author's intellectual property and to prevent reading by third parties.
