Henri IV financed a book on fortification

La Fortification réduicte en art et démonstrée is a work on military design published in 1600 by the mathematician Jean Errard. Part of the printing costs for the original edition of this rare book was covered by Henri IV. This financial aid was provided at the express request of Sully, who then held the position of superintendent of fortifications of France.
