Doctors detect simulators as well as chance

The simulation of illness is a behavior difficult to identify, because no medical examination makes it possible to prove with certainty that a patient is lying. For lack of reliable tools and due to a lack of time, practitioners often rely on their intuition and their clinical sense. Studies have nevertheless demonstrated that experienced doctors and psychiatrists do not obtain better scores than simple chance for spotting these impostures.
