One hundred thousand years of travel to the neighboring star

Interstellar travel is space flight between two planetary systems that still belongs to science fiction. Current technologies based on chemical propulsion only allow reaching a speed of 20 km per second. It would thus take about 100,000 years for a craft to reach the vicinity of the nearest star with these methods.
