A special bonus exists for eight-letter words in Scrabble

The 7 and 8 game is a variation of duplicate Scrabble where participants receive eight letters each turn instead of seven. Players can use all of them to form words and thus earn a 75-point bonus. The classic use of seven letters remains possible and keeps the traditional 50-point bonus.
