Quadrille is an 18th century card game that was the subject of a literary hoax in Ireland. A pamphlet published in 1736 claimed to introduce new rules for the game. Behind this text was actually hidden a vicious attack by Archbishop Josiah Hort against his enemy Richard Bettesworth, which caused a real uproar in Dublin.
