The Surrealists redesigned a complete deck of cards

The Jeu de Marseille is a deck of cards created by the Surrealists at the café Au Brûleur de loups. They replaced the traditional face cards with revolutionary symbols, transforming kings and queens into geniuses, sirens, and magi. Twenty-two card designs were thus drawn by artists such as Max Ernst, André Breton, and Wifredo Lam.
