An unfinished portrait donated to the Mount Vernon museum

Joseph Wright was taken by the yellow fever epidemic that struck Philadelphia in 1793, leaving behind an unfinished portrait of Elizabeth Willing Powel. This canvas was donated anonymously around 2020. The work is now preserved and exhibited by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association.
