A student of Whitehead authored one of the first books on ecology

Is It Too Late? A Theology of Ecology is a pioneering work on environmental ethics. Written in 1971 by John B. Cobb, Jr., this book applies the metaphysics of his teacher Alfred North Whitehead to the ecological question. Subsequently, the author continued this approach by publishing the book For the Common Good in 1989 alongside the economist Herman Daly.
