A dance in a hemlock field founded Tolkien's legendarium

Lúthien is a major character in Tolkien's work whose dance recalls that of the Vala Nessa. This fantastic figure is directly inspired by the author's own wife, Edith. Her dance performed in a field of hemlocks near Kingston-upon-Hull constitutes the founding event of the entire legendarium.
