A Sudanese photographer becomes the icon of a revolution

Lana Haroun is a 34-year-old Sudanese photographer and musician whose photograph became the symbol of the protest. This image captured the determination of the demonstrators and quickly went around the world. It was then reproduced as graffiti and pop art paintings to inspire the fight for women's rights.
