Airline pilots are never trained for water landings

Airline pilot training does not include practical water landing exercises on flight simulators. This gap persists because of the lack of data to accurately reproduce the conditions of a body of water. According to Captain Chesley Sullenberger, learning on the subject is therefore limited to reading a few pages of a manual and studying theoretical scenarios.
